No. 1 New Canaan Rolls Past No. 7 Maloney Behind Five Robinson-to-Esposito TDs

New Canaan High School football team defeated Maloney High School 42-21 on Friday night at Dunning Field. The Rams improved to 7-0 on the season, while the Spartans fell to 4-3. New Canaan quarterback Drew Robinson threw for 300 yards and five touchdowns, all to wide receiver Jack Esposito. Esposito finished the game with 10 catches for 150 yards. The Rams took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Robinson to Esposito and a 2-yard touchdown run by running back Jack Scheuer. Maloney cut the lead to 14-7 in the second quarter on a 25-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tyler Flaherty to wide receiver Mike Nuzzo. New Canaan answered right back with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Robinson to Esposito to take a 21-7 lead at halftime. The Rams extended their lead to 28-7 in the third quarter on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Robinson to Esposito. Maloney scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by running back Matt Walsh and a 15-yard touchdown pass from Flaherty to wide receiver Mike Rose. New Canaan added a final touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 20-yard touchdown pass from Robinson to Esposito. The Rams defense held Maloney to just 211 yards of offense. New Canaan will host Darien next Friday night, while Maloney will host Southington.
